Curation and designer liaison efforts have been led by Ali Ismail Karimi, Principal at Civil Architecture.

The AlUla Design Residency is a five-month programme that brings together designers and experts on-site in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Participants, either individuals or collectives, work across multiple disciplines, such as infrastructure development and architectural design, exploring public realm interventions and urban furniture, sustainability, and local building materials. Their findings, pieces, and prototypes will be showcased in an exhibition at the AlUla Arts Festival in February 2024.

This programme was developed by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) in collaboration with the French Agency for the Development of AlUla (AFALULA).

The new season of the AlUla Design Residency Programme further establishes AlUla as a global hub for creative minds, drawing inspiration from its natural wonders, rich history, and diverse society.
