Recognising exceptional design inspired by the heritage, landscapes, and artistic legacies of AlUla.

Honouring Innovation

The AlUla Design Award calls upon both seasoned and up-and-coming designers to contribute to AlUla’s lasting heritage of art, design, culture, and creativity.

Inaugural Edition

The first edition was in the form of an Open Call, inviting Saudi, regional, and international designers to conceptualise premium retail and VIP gifting products.

Over 400 applications were received, with shortlisted designs reviewed by a distinguished jury and a final selection of six outstanding winners.

AlUla Odyssey Collection

“To travel is to take a journey into yourself. A journey to discover a new heritage, nature and spirit.”

The designer proposed a collection of travel carry-ons and clutches inspired by AlUla’s aesthetics and motifs. These are reflected in the textures, colours and patterns of the suitcases of different sizes. The travel accessory is a nod to the nomadic and continuously evolving journey of discovery.

Mohamad Baalbaki x AlJoharah AlRasheed

Whispers of AlUla Collection

Inspired by wind’s transformative power, the concept symbolizes how it has shaped AlUla’s nature and human communities over millennia. Using patterns reflecting sand and wind conventions, products will feature sinusoidal carvings and Arabic calligraphy on teak or beech wood to express human progression and civilization.

Niko Kapa

A Greek designer based in Dubai, proposing a collection of accessories inspired by the natural landscapes of AlUla.

Reem Bashawri

Luxurious Winter Shawls

Three shawls represent three distinct civilizations: Dadan & Lihyan, Nabataean, and the Islamic Era. Each shawl’s design is inspired by the unique ambience and characteristics of its respective civilization’s setting. IKMAH Mountain features bold, edgy lines, ITHLIB Sandstone has smooth, organic contours, and ALULA Old Town showcases a complex aerial view of mudhouses and a historic castle.
