What Lies Within brings together works from the past two decades by sone of the most significant artists of Saudi Arabia and its diaspora from the private collection of Saudi patron and collector Basma AlSulaiman.
Curated by artist Lulwah AlHomoud, an influential figure in the Saudi Arabian art scene, the exhibition conveys AlSulaiman’s appreciation of and the connection to both local and global contemporary culture and is a tribute to her invaluable work in supporting Saudi artistic production and talent. Her collection holds a remarkable visual record of the evolution of artists forms and ideals with works that reflect the time and contect in which they were created, with varied practices spanning works on paper, painting , sculpture, photography and installation.
What Lies Within was hosted at the award-winning venue Maraya, between 11 February to 30 March 2022.
