AlGharameel: The Magical Pillars

Nestled within AlUla, AlGharameel is a place shrouded in mystique, radiating charm, and characterised by its unique stone pillars—a truly rare and extraordinary sight.

At first glance, the Gharameel Pillars leave you wondering: are they imaginary plateaus, intricately carved mountains, or palm trunks sculpted from stone? Seeming like a scene from a fantastical desert tale, and carved by the whims of the wind, these crimson rock formations bear distinct, non-identical silhouettes. At night, as the darkness descends, they appear as divine paintings of unparalleled beauty. These views constitute the inspiration for this collection.

The collection showcases chamomile flowers and common desert grasses that surround AlGharameel, with deep green colours and yellow-and-white flowers that entice one with their fascinating scents.

Alwaha: The Room Divider

AlWaha showcases the technical, formal, and physical qualities of Khous—the art of weaving palm fronds—one of the most commonly practiced crafts in Saudi heritage.

The concept of the AlWaha room divider comes as a material manifestation of the essence of Khous, within the realms of design and art.

Drawing inspiration from the mesmerising undulations of desert sand dunes and the serene beauty of living oases adorned with palm trees, the room divider’s intricate weaving transcends space and time, fusing age-old local techniques with state-of-the-art developments.

Duna: The Seating Dune

From rugged rocks to serene fields, from simple cave lodgings to the undulating embrace of sand dunes, humans have long sought the perfect resting place. The human quest for the perfect resting place, though long and imperfect, knows no limitations. This project introduces a versatile resting space, one that is not bound by regulations and can be enjoyed in various ways. The absence of a fixed front or back orientation grants the user the freedom to determine the level of intimacy, individuality, and preferred positioning.

Drawing inspiration from the captivating desert of AlUla, The Seating Dune incorporates elements of its materials, colour palette, geometry, and construction techniques. Clay and naturally dyed fabrics, commonly found in the crafts industry, take centre stage as the primary materials employed. The colours chosen reflect the hues of AlUla’s mystical sunrise, making for a consistently delightful colour palette throughout the project.

Alwadiya: The Living Pots

The Alwadiya collection embodies the lush oasis of AlUla, focusing on its rich flora, like its citrus trees, herbs, and date palms. Living pots within the collection decompose materials, integrating them into natural cycles using 3D-printed natural cellulose and CO₂ absorbing PURE.TECH.

The collection also features naturally dyed linen fabrics and biodegradable skins made from AlUla's fruits and herbs. These design elements symbolise growth, change, and the enduring journey of life, with vases resembling skin, emphasising interconnectedness and continuity. Alwadiya pieces reflect the transformative nature of time and environment, remaining open to evolution.
